Spike's VGA 2008 was great!

Spike's Video Game Awards (held last night Dec 14/08) is slowly becoming a monster for unveiling projects it seems. I came home after a Christmas party last night to watch said feature and was very impressed by the amount of content shown, the awards handed out and the over all feel of the show.

Granted there were some oddities that seemed to hold it back but over all a very good showing. To start things off, the news that excited me! 3 videos in particular did it for me - and were more or less why I was watching the show to begin with.

Right off the bat... the intro... has Jack Black... having his way with a 360 & PS3 ala - a three sum and well check out the rest yourself here. haha weird stuff.

Now for the real stuff:

The most impressive of them all is the trailer for Mafia 2. It's slick graphics and action scream at me! I loved the first game and was greatly anticipating the game before the video - but now that I've seen this it's got a big smile on my face. Watch the trailer here.

The second most impressive thing for me was the trailer for Uncharted2. The host (think it was busta rhymes) made a point to say it was all in game stuff and it was GORGEOUS! Drake still has his sense of humor and though the video didn't explain a lot, it did give us a taste of the setting and visual style - both of which look spectacular. Watch the trailer here.

Lastly was God of War 3's trailer - which was shorter than I had expected. Honestly, the GOW3 logo showed up longer than any gameplay. It looks good, rather good actually, just not as "Blow me on my ass" kinda good that I was expecting. Watch the trailer here.

Some other things caught my attention - such as the video for Fight Night Round 4 - again looks superb and Dante's Inferno looks interesting at least. Brutal legend looks really fun... erm perhaps humorous is a better term? The game revolves around a metal (the music) guy fighting his way though game cliches and such - jack black at the helm - Could be fun!
